Performing Arts
In the performing arts, Saavedra has worked as composer, sound designer and technician with Roger Bernat, Azkona & Toloza, Marcos Morau, La Veronal, and choreographers Sonia Gómez and Amaranta Velarde, among others.
His stage works have been presented around the world at festivals such as Festival Grec (Barcelona), Festival d’ Avignon, Festival d'Automne à Paris, Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), Tanz im August (Berlin), or La Biennale di Venezia. These works have also been presented in prominent venues such as the Teatro Real, Centro Cultural Conde Duque, Teatros del Canal, and Matadero (Madrid); Gran Teatre del Liceu, TNC, Mercat de les Flors, and Teatre Lliure (Barcelona); Théâtre National de Chaillot, 104Paris, La Villette, and Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), Haus der Berliner Festspiele, HAU Hebbel am Ufer and Schaubühne (Berlin) or Sadler's Wells (London).
His latest creations include Sonoma (La Veronal, 2020) Folkå (Nederlands Dans Theater / NDT2, 2021), Hochmut - The Seven Sins (Gauthier Dance Company Stuttgart, 2022), La Belle au bois dormant (Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon, 2022), Firmamento (La Veronal, 2023) and Afanador (Ballet Nacional de España, 2023).
In 2022 he is nominated for “Best Sound Space” for La Veronal's Opening Night in the “XXIV Premis de la Crítica d’Arts Escèniques”. The same year, the company La Veronal received the “Premi Ciutat de Barcelona d’Arts Escèniques” for the shows Sonoma and Opening Night, for which Saavedra provided the musical composition and sound design.
In 2025, Saavedra was awarded the “Best Musical Composition for a Stage Show” at “XXVIII SGAE Max awards of Performings Arts” for Afanador by Marcos Morau and Ballet Nacional de España.
